About RISCO
Marine and coastal ecosystems, particularly mangroves, play a critical role in climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction, while supporting the livelihoods of millions of people living in coastal areas.
RISCO works at the intersection of coastal resilience, ecosystem restoration, and finance. We are built on a simple principle: healthier mangroves reduce climate risk for coastal communities, and stronger financial systems make it possible to protect and restore those mangroves over the long term.
RISCO develops and implements financial solutions that increase the resilience of vulnerable coastal communities while creating durable incentives for mangrove protection and restoration. Our work focuses on two interconnected areas:
providing climate risk financing and insurance solutions linked to coastal protection, and
enabling mangrove-positive businesses—including aquaculture and related value chains—that depend on and reinforce healthy mangrove ecosystems.
By aligning risk reduction, access to capital, and long-term ecosystem stewardship, RISCO supports coastal communities to strengthen their livelihoods while safeguarding the natural infrastructure that protects them.
